Local Leader Chosen for Global Leadership Opportunity

Because of her love for Jesus and teens, Claire (red jacket) applied to attend the YFC General Assembly in the Netherlands as a young leader. She was selected in a highly competitive process, was the only volunteer to make the team, and represented Platte Valley YFC on a global scale!

This gathering of YFC leaders from across the world was life-changing for Claire. “YFC can be a bridge to the church. The church is the only place that reaches all people with the gospel. I also learned to ask questions of myself as a leader: What fuels my pride? How do I identify myself?  In my list of accomplishments, what do I need to be suspicious of?”

Claire shared that the conference focused on the words of Paul in Philippians 3: “But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.”

This scripture convicted her heart as she heard a story from a YFC leader in war-torn Ukraine. Outside their youth center, the body of a fallen soldier was being honored. The leaders asked, “Does anyone know who this man is?” A young boy answered, “I do. It’s my dad.” Imagine the loss!

Processing emotions can be difficult, but thankfully the YFC team was there to help. God is building authentic, Christ-sharing relationships between teens and caring adults across the globe and here in Nebraska!

“College is one of the times in your life where you can have different experiences,” said Claire. Now, Claire will bring her experience back to our local team to share Jesus with teenagers in our community!
